Hi!  I'm Cindy. Nice to meet you and thanks for stopping at Feathered Friends!       I enjoy working with my hands, and have altered things for as long as I can remember.  I have dabbled in many trades....from swinging a hammer to slinging ink. I probably drove my folks crazy when I was a kid, disassembling my toys. 

This all started with my love for Renaissance Faires.  I have always liked the clothes women wore back then and the whole Pirate Days kind of thing.  The first time I went to the TN RenFest, I was hooked!  Afterwards, I was searching for patterns, material.....and now a new craft to learn, sewing.  It was only natural that creating the perfect pet was next.  After all, no self-respecting pirate can be without a parrot!  From Florida to Ohio, security was stopping me....thinking I was trying to bring in a live bird.  And that my friends, was the beginning to this end, lol.  I have had so much fun with my customized, feathered Squawkers McCaws, I thought I'd start sharing it with others. 

My current sewing project is wizard and sorceress robes.  I have created my "Snow Bird" for that theme.  I should be posting pictures of those in a couple months.   If you are interested in having me create for you in a different medium than Squawkers McCaw, please ask!

Why spend good money for something that is mass-produced?  Express your individuality!  Most have been custom made for the client....you pick the theme, your favorite colors, length, etc.  Others are from materials that I just had to have, lol.  So if you see one you like, it may be for sale!  The waist selection is either semi-fitted with zipper/hook & eye closure or 3/4" nonroll elastic with drawstring.  Skirts also have the options of ribbon/lace.  Both styles are a sweeping 7 1/4 yds. at the hemline.  The gored ones are very figure flattering...offering fullness at the bottom and minimal fabric at the waist. BTW, all raw edges are serged for years of wear.
